Fazio, Woods, DMR Named VaSID All-State

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond junior Brooke Fazio, sophomore Kayla Woods and the Distance Medley Relay Team were selected to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Second Team, the organization announced.
Fazio, a native of Basking Ridge, N.J., earned second team honors in the 800-meters after qualifying for the 2020 NCAA Indoor Track Championship with a time of 2:06.39, becoming the first Spider to do so since 2007 in any event. Her A-10 Championship time in the 800 also set a new Atlantic 10 Championship Meet and URI Mackal Field House records. Fazio also helped Richmond to a title in the 4x800 with a 2:11.29 split of the A-10 Championship Meet and Mackal Field House records time of 8:59.91. She was named A10 Women's Track Athlete for Feb. 11 after posting a time of 2:08.77 in the 800m at the Camel City Invitational.
Woods, a native of Wilmington, Del., earned second team honors in the long jump after winning the A-10 title with a season-best distance of 5.91 meters. She also helped the 4x400 relay team to a time of 3:52.61 and a fourth-place finish at the A-10 Championship.
The Richmond Distance Medley Relay team also earned second-team honors. At the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, Fazio teamed up with Rachel Helbling (McDonald, Pa), Maria Acosta (Maywood, N.J.) and Claire Brown (Erie, Pa.) to post the fastest time this season at 11:42.37. Brown and Helbling teamed up with Lily Snow (Richmond, Va.) and Kate McAndrew (Denville, N.J.) to defend the Spiders title in the DMR at the A-10 Championship for a fourth-straight year with a time of 11:47.39.
