Barany Selected to Swimming and Diving Rules Committee

RICHMOND, Va. – Spider swim and dive head coach Matt Barany has been elected to be one of eight representatives on the NCAA Swimming and Diving Rules Committee for the next two years. As part of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Rules Committee, Barany is one of four representatives of NCAA Division I, two representatives from Division II and two from Division III.
"I am honored to represent Richmond in this way." Barany said, "I look forward to helping swimming and diving develop in step with national and international trends."
This group of eight vote on and approve the rules that are included in the NCAA Swimming and Diving Rules Book for upcoming seasons. They will account for the major rules changes for the seasons in which they are on the rules committee. Joining Barany on the committee are Mariah Chappell of SMU, Matt Gianiodis of Michigan State, Chuck LoCurto of Bryant, James Graves of King University, Lindsie Micko of Augustana (South Dakota), Tammy L. Swearingen of Westminster College (PA) and Dan Gelderloos of Calvin University. Barany's term is set to end in 2022 and is eligible for reappointment following this first term.
