Women’s Track Opens 2021 Indoor Season at East Coast Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track team will kick off the 2021 indoor season at the East Coast Invitational at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va., Saturday. Live results can be found at www.richmondspiders.com.
Heading to Virginia Beach for the Spiders will be senior Brooke Fazio (Basking Ridge, N.J.), juniors Rachel Helbling (McDonald, Pa.) and Kayla Woods (Wilmington, Del.) and sophomore Kamryn Ross (Richmond, Va.).
In 2020, Fazio qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 800m and her flat track time of 2:06.39 was the 10th-best time in the nation. The 2020 USTFCCCA Indoor All-American also won the 800m and helped the 4x800m relay squad to a first-place finish at the 2020 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship, collecting All-Conference honors.
Helbling helped the Distance Medley Relay team to a gold medal finish at the 2020 A10 Indoor Championship after posting a 400m leg time of 55.41. She also broke the program record in the 500m with a time of 1:12.13 at the 2020 ECAC/IC4A Championships.
Ross broke the 60-meter hurdle program record with a time of 8.63 at the A10 Indoor Championship, collecting second-place and All-Conference honors.
Woods wrapped up the 2020 indoor season with a first-place finish and a personal best at the A10 Indoor Championship with a long jump distance of 5.91 meters, earning All-Conference honors.
