Women’s Track Has Strong First Day at UVA Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track and field team had a strong showing in the first day of the Virginia Challenge at Lannigan Field.
Rachel Helbling (McDonald, Pa.) finished third in section three of the 400m with a time of 55.59 out of lane eight to finish sixth overall.
In the 100m dash, Tamar Accius (Jacksonville, Fla.) turned in a time of 12.24, her third best mark of the season, to finish 17th overall.
In section one the women's 5k, freshman Elizabeth Stockman (Rocky Hill, Conn.) crossed the finish line at 17:16.09 to come in 8th, while fellow freshman Madison Trippett (Parkersburg, W.Va.) turned in a time of 18:01.15 to come in 15th. Caroline Robelen (Glen Allen, Va.) posted a time of 18:26.28 to finish 19th in section one.
Kayla Woods (Wilmington, Del.) finished 12th in the long jump with a distance of 5.84m with a +1.1m/s wind during her second attempt. Her full jump series: 5.82m, 5.84m and 5.77m.
For the men's cross country team, Trey Burleson (Moseley, Va.) finished first in section one of the 1500m with a personal best time of 3:52.46.
In the first section of the men's 5k, Peter Borger (Malvern, Pa.) tuned in a time of 14:28.17, just shy of his personal best of 14:27.45 earlier this season to finish fifth while Noah Yuro (Howell, N.J.) posted a time of 14:48.66 in the first section.
Noah Campbell (Montpelier, Va.) turned a personal best time of 30:58.37 in the 10k.
The Spiders return to Charlottesville, Saturday for the final day of the Virginia Challenge.
