06/23/2021 | Men's Golf
RICHMOND, Va. - Spiders rising junior Lou Baker is one of five players who have been named to the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf All-Academic Team, the conference announced on Wednesday. Baker is the third Spider men's golfer to earn A-10 All-Academic honors in the last 10 years, joining Michael Baker (2019) and David Germann (2014-15). Last month, Baker was named the Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Year. He is the first player in program history to win conference player of the year and conference all-academic awards.
Baker finished 13th or better in all four of Richmond's full-field events this spring, including a runner-up finish at the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate in March, the best individual result for a Spider golfer since the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship. He did so while maintaining the highest cumulative GPA among all male sophomore student-athletes at Richmond, winning the Men's Second-Year Academic Award from Richmond Athletics.Â
Baker was joined on the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team by Rhode Island's Chris Francoeur, St. Bonaventure's Danny Gianniny, and Brian Garrett and Viral Garewal of Davidson.Â
