Fazio First Spider Since 2012 to Compete at NCAA Track & Field Championships Finals in Oregon

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond women's track and field student-athlete Brooke Fazio is set to compete at the 2021 NCAA Track & Field Championship Finals in Eugene, Oregon, June 9-12, hosted by the University of Oregon at Hayward Field.

Fazio will race in the first 800m semifinals Thursday, June 10 at 8:14 p.m. Eastern. The finals of the 800m will take place Saturday, June 12 at 7:14 p.m. Eastern.

Fans can watch Thursday's competition on ESPN2 while Saturday's will air on ESPNU.

At the NCAA Track & Field East Prelims (May 29), Fazio lowered her personal best and the Richmond program record to 2:02.73 to finish fourth in the first heat of the 800m and 11th overall in the fastest NCAA 800m Quarterfinals in history. Fazio, the 2021 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Champion in the 800m, finished sixth overall with a time of 2:03.48 in the first round (May 27) of the 800m to advance.

The Basking Ridge, N.J. native becomes the first Spider to head to the NCAA Championship Finals since 2012 when Nicol Traynor competed in the 3000m Steeplechase, a fellow Ridge High alumna.
