RICHMOND, Va. -- The Richmond men's golf team announced its full schedule for the 2021-22 school year on Tuesday. The Spiders will participate in at least 11 competitions over the fall and spring semesters, starting on September 12 with the first day of the VCU Shootout on the Creek Course at the Country Club of Virginia.Â
Richmond will follow the VCU Shootout with a trip to Davidson N.C. to play in Davidson's River Run Collegiate on September 20-21. The Spiders will play in two events in October to conclude their fall season: first at the Autotrader Collegiate Classic in Duluth, Ga. on October 11-12 and then at the Grandover Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C. on October 23-24.Â
UR is scheduled to play seven events in the spring, starting with a home match against Columbia on February 26 at Independence Golf Club. Over spring break, the Spiders will compete at the Mid Pines Collegiate in Southern Pines, N.C. on March 7-8 and then return to the Pinehurst area on March 12-13 to host the Forest Creek Collegiate at Forest Creek Golf Club.
Following a two-week break, the Spiders will play in a pair of events over eight days at the Seahawk Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C. on March 27-28 and the Irish Creek Intercollegiate in Kannapolis N.C. on April 2-3. Richmond's final tune-up for the Atlantic 10 Championship will be at Penn State's Rutherford Intercollegiate in State College, Pa. on April 16-17. The A-10 Championship will be held at Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fla. for a second straight year, with event teeing off on April 29 and running through May 1.Â
The 2021-22 Spiders are led by three-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Adam Decker, who is entering his 17th season with the program. Richmond will be led by junior Lou Baker, the reigning Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Year and a First Team All-State selection. Baker is one of four returning Spiders to post a stroke average of 75.00 or better in UR's spring 2021 season along with junior Ben Cooper (73.85), senior Carter Cook (74.40), and senior Michael Childress (74.69).Â
