Spider Athletic Fund Spotlight - Beth & Chris Kondorossy
8/3/2021
What inspires you to give to the Spider Athletic Fund?
We remember seeing the enthusiasm and support from alumni when we were Spider athletes. The experience we had at University of Richmond has shaped our lives and careers and it is our hope to show our support for the University and the Spider community.
What is your favorite Spider Athletics moment?
Easy - 2008 National Championship in Chattanooga, TN.

If you could have dinner with one Spider student-athlete or coach from the past or present who would it be and why?
Leland Melvin, his stories are out of this world. Chris met Leland in the spring of 2009 by means of their shared mentor and chemistry professor, the late Dr. William Myers. Leland has a very unique perspective and background through football, leadership, science, and outer space.
What excites you the most about the future of Spider Athletics?
The new facilities of course! An on-campus stadium is amazing plus all the new renovations to the Robins Center and Millhiser gym. The football game-day experience is also a lot of fun for all of us, especially with our growing family. We know of numerous young(er) alums with children that are looking forward to football this fall.

If you could give a current student-athlete one piece of advice, what would it be?
Take the time to get to know the support staff around the University. We both had summer jobs on campus during our time as student-athletes and got to meet a lot of wonderful people working for us behind the scenes. It was a pleasure getting to know them and we still keep in touch with a few. Be grateful for their help and appreciate their commitment to making the University of Richmond a great place.
If you were speaking to other alumni or fans, why would you encourage them to also support the Spider Athletic Fund?
We would encourage other Spider fans to continue to help provide opportunities for student-athletes that donate their time and energy to the University. The time commitment and physical demand of college athletics is unyielding for student athletes that wish to succeed in the classroom as well as the playing field. Nevertheless, this stringent life is what makes Spider athletes a close-knit community. It is a community we are proud to belong to and want to see it continue to thrive.
