Clark Named A-10 Golfer of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond sophomore Garrett Clark has been named the Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Friday. Clark shared the award with Davidson's Viraj Garewal. Clark was honored for his performance at the River Run Collegiate at River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C. earlier this week. Despite steady rain and wind that made the 7,317-yard layout play even longer, Clark fired a 2-under 70 in Tuesday's final round to move into a tie for 9th on the individual leaderboard and register his second career top-10 finish. He started the day tied for 21st after shooting 71 (-1) and 77 (+5) in Rounds 1 and 2 on Monday.

This is the first weekly conference honor for Clark, who participated in four events for the Spiders as a freshman last season. He's been the top Spiders finisher in both of the team's events this season, tying for third among individuals while leading Richmond to a season-opening win at the VCU Shootout earlier this month. Clark is the first Spider to record a top-10 finish in the team's first two events of the year since 2013, when senior Jack Wilkes placed sixth at the Marshall Invitational and seventh at the VCU Shootout.

Clark and the Spiders will return to action on October 11-12 at the Autotrader Collegiate Classic in Duluth, Ga.
