01/20/2022 | Women's Track & Field
Richmond. Va. — The University of Richmond track & field program heads to Liberty University this weekend for the second annual Brant Tolsma Invitational. Fans will be admitted free of charge.
The meet will be held at Liberty University's Indoor Track Complex that features a six-lane, 200-meter banked track. The Spiders will compete Friday and Saturday.
Information regarding the meet, including a schedule of events and live results can be found here.
Richmond speedsters Tamar Accius (Jacksonville, Fla.), Kyra Blakeslee (Wayne, N.J.) and Kayla Woods (Wilmington, Del.) will toe the line in the 60m dash. Accius and Woods (who ran a PR of 7.72 in the event at last week's Clemson Invite) currently stand fourth and fifth in the Atlantic 10, respectively.
Accius and Woods will be joined by Kamryn Ross (Richmond, Va.) in the 200m dash. Ross is sixth in the conference so far this season with a 25.39 posting at last month's CNU Holiday Open, while Accius is eighth with a 25.60 also set at Christopher Newport.
Ross will also compete in the 60m hurdles— the event she won silver in at last year's Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships. Also running the 60m hurdles will be Gabrielle Beneducci (Hampton, N.J.) and Amaya Jackson (Richmond, Va.).
Virginia Beringer (Fredericksburg, Va.), Rachel Helbling (McDonald, Pa.) and Maddie Orr (Rumson, N.J.) are set for the 400m dash where Helbling is coming off two personal-best times from last week's meet where she ran marks of 1:31.55 in the 600m and 39.58 in the 300m.
Getting into the middle-distances, Lindsay Colflesh (Haddonfield, N.J.), Morgan Lyons (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Dylan Miller (Phoenixville, Pa.) will run the 800m, while Kayla O'Connell (Marshfield, Mass.), Kate McAndrew (Denville, N.J.) and Kendra Smither (Richmond, Va.) are set for the mile. Smither comes into the weekend after recording a 1,000 PR (2:53.11) at the Clemson Invite that places her second in the conference.
Isabel Blaylock (Dallas, Tex.), Anna George (Montville, N.J.) and Laurel Kurtz (Flemington, N.J.) will toe the line in the 3,000, while Caitlin O'Hare (Middletown, N.J.) will be the Spiders' lone entry in the 5,000. George's 10:26.77 from the CNU Holiday Open is the tenth-fastest time in the A-10 this season.
Richmond will field two teams in the 4x400m relay with O'Connell, Beringer, Helbling and McAndrew on the 'A' squad and Beneducci, Blakeslee, Jackson and Lyons on 'B'. Colflesh will serve as an alternate.
On the runway, Grace Mittl (Bethlehem, Pa.) and Woods will take flight in the long jump. Woods currently sits atop the A-10 with a mark of 5.86m (19-2.75) set at the Clemson Invite.
