GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Senior Lou Baker led the Spiders in the first two rounds of the Furman Intercollegiate Saturday, shooting rounds of 67 (-4) and 70 (-1) to finish the day at 5-under par, tied for fourth among the 84 players in the field.Â
"The putter was hot all day," said Baker of his first 36 holes. "I was good about giving myself looks most of the day and it was nice to see some putts drop. Also, when I got in bad spots I was happy with how I managed and kept double [bogey] off the card."
Baker led the Spiders to a team score of 6-over par (574) Saturday, sixth best among the 15 teams competing. Richmond combined for a 283 (-1) in Round 1 Saturday morning and a 291 (+7) in Round 2 Saturday afternoon.Â
Junior Garrett Clark carded rounds of 72 (+1) and 70 (-1) and is tied for 14th at 142 (E). Clark played the par 5s at the Furman Golf Club in 5-under par Saturday, tied for third best in the field.Â
Sophomore Cole Ekert is tied for 35th at 4-over par (146), three shots in front of freshman Drew Carlin, who is tied for 50th at 7-over par (149).Â
Senior Ben Cooper is tied for 81st at 18-over par (160).
Sunday's final round will start with players going off the 1st and 10th tees beginning at 8:20 AM.Â
