Football Adds Transfer Wide Receiver Nick DeGennaro

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond football head coach Russ Huesman announced the addition of transfer wide receiver Nick DeGennaro to the program for the 2022 season. DeGennaro joins the Spiders after spending two seasons at Maryland, including last fall with Spider quarterback transfer Reece Udinski.
DeGennaro played in seven games with the Terrapins, appearing in four games in 2020 as a true freshman and three games in 2021 as a redshirt freshman. He caught three passes for 42 yards as a freshman, including leading Maryland in receiving against Northwestern (10/24/20). He caught three passes for 42 yards, averaging 14.0 yards per catch.
DeGennaro was a high school standout at The Hun School in New Jersey where he was teammates with current Spiders Connor Deveney and Prince Ekwughalu. He was named NJISAA Prep A First Team All-State as a senior when he recorded 30 receptions for 672 yards. He also caught seven touchdowns in 2019, while averaging 22.4 yards per catch.
As a junior, DeGennaro caught 19 passes for 519 yards. He averaged a team-best 27.3 yards per catch in 2018, scoring eight touchdowns through the air. He also played defensive end for The Hun School, recording three interceptions as a junior.
DeGennaro was a track standout at The Hun School, winning the 2019 Track Prep A State Championship in the 100-meter race with a time of 10.91. He clocked a 4.43 40-yard dash and a 10-11 broad jump as a senior.
