
Spiders Open Season, Send Off Seniors at Home Friday

Richmond, Va. – The University of Richmond track and field program kicked off the outdoor season in style Friday, hosting its first Fred Hardy Invitational since 2019 and honoring 16 senior Spiders beforehand.
Before the meet kicked off, Spider seniors were recognized for their dedication and impact to the program. Acknowledgements prepared by the coaching staff and read at Friday's senior day ceremony for each athlete can be read here.
Back on the track, three Spiders kicked off outdoor season with ECAC qualifying marks in the 1500. Elizabeth Stockman ran a 4:27.46 to finish first, While Kayla O'Connell ran a 4:27.81 for third and Brooke Fazio finished with a 4:29.16 for fourth. Izzy Blaylock rounded out Spider finishers with a 4;45.27 for 12th.
Morgan Crocker placed fifth with a leap of 18-01.00 in the long jump followed by Grace Mittl with a 16.11-25 good enough for 11th.
Freshman Virginia Beringer finished fifth in the 400m dash with a 58.26, while Aylin Bruce (1:01.21), Maddie Orr (1:01.79) and Morgan Lyons (1:03.32) went 17-19. Emily Rzucidlo ran a 1:05.34 for 21st.
Kyra Blakeslee ran a 13.37 for ninth in the 100m dash.
Three more Spiders ran times good enough for ECAC qualifying marks in the 800m run. Rachel Helbling clocked a 2:10.18 for first in the event while Kendra Smither 2:11.12 and Kate McAndrew (2:11.63) went 2-3. Lindsey Colflesh ran a 2:16.77 for sixth and Dylan Miller ran a 2:30.93 to round out the Spiders field.
UR followed each other in the 400m hurdles when Gabrielle Beneducci ran a 1:07.46 for ninth and Amaya Jackson followed with a 1:07.66 for tenth.
Tamar Accius clocked a 25.10 for runner-up in the 200m dash, Kayla Woods ran a 25.84 for eighth and Blakeslee (27.74) finished 23rd.
Lily Snow lead Spiders in the 5,000 with as 17:40.08 clocking. Following her in eighth was Manon Stephen with a 18:51.23, Anna George in 11th with a 18:57.18, Kathryn Shea finished 14th with a 19:14.81 and Caitlin O'Hare ran a 20:03.78 for 19th.
Finally, the Richmond 4x400 of Accius, O'Connell, Beringer and Helbling ran away with first after clocking a 3:48.45. Behind the leaders, Maddie Orr, Lindsey Colfelsh, Aylin Bruce and Morgan Lyons clocked a 4:07.85.
On the men's side, Noah Yuro lead the unattached Spiders in the 1500, running a 3:56.03. Behind him, Riley Fletcher clocked a 3:58.32, Jordan Bendura ran a 3:59.30, Jake Schindel ran a 4:00.34 and Jimmy Quinn followed right behind with a 4:00.90. Sean Doolan ran a 4:01.50 and Sullivan Cummins ran a 4:13.02.
William Tune clocked a 1:57.01 in the 800m run.
Peter Borger won the men's 5,000 with a 14:37.08, Tanner Crochet ran a 15:18.89, Robert Gunia clocked a 15:18.89 and Patrick Sutphin ran a 15:48.40.
Next up, the women's track and field program jumps into the outdoor season with the Raleigh Relays March 24-26 at N.C. State.
