
Pair of holeouts vaults Baker into top 10 at Seahawk Intercollegiate

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Richmond Spiders junior Lou Baker recorded a pair of holeouts from outside of 80 yards in the second round of the Seahawk Intercollegiate Sunday afternoon as he climbed into the top 10 on the individual leaderboard. Through 36 holes, Baker is tied for eighth in the field of 82 at 2-under par (142).Â
After starting the second round on hole 13 at the Country Club of Landfall, Baker drained his approach shots on the 18th hole, a 433-yard par 4, and the 7th hole, a 357-yard par 4. Baker was the only player in the field to register multiple eagles in the event's first two rounds Sunday.Â
Baker shot a 4-under 68 in the second round to help the Spiders to a team score of 293 (+5), a one-shot improvement over their Round 1 total. The Spiders enter Monday's final round in seventh place in the 14-team field at 587 (+11).Â
Freshman Cole Ekert, the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, shot rounds of 75 (+3) and 73 (+1) Sunday and is tied for 28th at 4-over par (148). Junior Ben Cooper is two shots back at 6-over par (150), tied for 42nd in the field. Three Spiders are tied for 47th at 7-over (151): senior Michael Childress, sophomore Garrett Clark, and senior Carter Cook, who is competing as an individual.Â
Monday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 AM.Â
