Lou Baker In Third After Day One At Ross Collegiate

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's golf team is in eighth place overall at the Ross Collegiate Classic Monday in the 17-team field hosted by George Mason at the Mid Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. Play was suspended Monday during the second round due to darkness. The remainder of the second round and the entire third round will be played Tuesday.
Junior Lou Baker (Timonium, Md.) headlines the Spiders in third place overall at 2-under par, three strokes out of the lead. Baker posted a 2-under par 70 in round one, recording five birdies, three bogeys and 10 par scores. He is even-par through 15 holes in round two when play was suspended, including three birdies on the front nine.
Senior Michael Childress (Salisbury, N.C.) is tied for 23rd overall at 4-over par. Childress carded a 2-under par 70 in round one with six birdies, four bogeys and eight par scores. He completed 16 holes in round two, sitting at 6-over par at suspension.
Freshman Cole Ekert (Chatham, N.J.) is the only Spider that finished two full rounds and sits in a tie for 27th place at 5-over par 149. Ekert opened with a 3-over par 75 in round one before carding a 2-over par 74 in round two. He finished strong with two birdies in the final four holes as darkness approached.
Senior Garrett Clark (Burlington, N.C.) is in 77th place at 13-over par. He posted a 6-over par 78 in round one and is at 7-over par through 14 holes in round two. Junior Ben Cooper (Richmond, Va.) is 17-over par on the day, carding an 83 in round one and sitting at 6-over par through 16 holes in round two.
Senior Carter Cook (Cornelius, N.C.) playing as an individual, is tied for 73rd place at 12-over par. He posted a 7-over par 79 in round one and was at 5-over par through 10 holes in round two.
The Spiders are currently 19-over par as a team after posting a 293 team score in round one.
