Helbling, Fazio Earn VaSID Second Team All-State Honors

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Rachel Helbling and Brooke Fazio have been named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors' (VaSID) women's indoor track & field All-State Second Team, announced by the organization Monday afternoon.

Helbling earns the honor after winning gold in the 400m dash and the 4x400m relay at the A-10 indoor track & field championship, helping the Spiders to a second-place finish as a team. She broke five school records during the course of the season including the 400m, 500m and 600m dashes and as a member of the Spiders' 4x400 relay and DMR. At the time it was ran, Helbling's program record in the 500m dash (1:12.13) was the fourth-fastest in the world and goes down as the NCAA's top time of the year.

Fazio shares the recognition after taking first in the 800m run and as a member of the Spiders' 4x400 and DMR at the Atlantic 10 indoor championships. The fastest, and arguably best A-10 800m runner ever, Fazio holds both the indoor and outdoor conference records in the event and has not lost in individual or relay competition at the A-10 championships since 2019.
