Kayla Woods Punches Ticket to NCAA East Prelims

Richmond, Va.— Long jumper Kayla Woods has qualified for the NCAA East Regional Championships and continues her season this week in the long jump. Woods qualified with her season-best 6.09m (19-11.75) and will jump Thursday at 6 p.m. at Indiana University's Haugh Track & Field.
Woods jumped the qualifying mark at the Virginia Challenge in late April and went on to take silver at the Atlantic 10 Championships and gold at the ECAC Championships in May.
Athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective event earn a berth into the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds. In addition, the best 24 relays times advance to the NCAA preliminaries. Athletes with the top 12 times/marks and the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West Preliminary Rounds sites will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
The recent University of Richmond graduate is the only representative from the Atlantic 10 entered in the event. Woods qualified for the east preliminary rounds in 2021 as well.
