Spiders Cross Country Set for Atlantic 10 Championships

Dayton, OH. - The University of Richmond cross country program prepares to travel to Dayton, OH. where both the men and women's squads will compete in the Atlantic 10 Championships. The men's 8K is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., while the women's 6K is set to begin at 10:50 a.m.

The championships will be held at Elvin R. King Cross Country Course, the home of Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH. You can find the men's course here and the women's course here.

The Spiders look to improve their performance from a year ago when the women took sixth and the men took eleventh. Madison Trippett, Laurel Kurtz and Elizabeth Stockman all return as the top three Richmond finishers from the 2022 season. These three Spiders look to make a large impact this weekend for the program, searching for the first place title. All three have had successful regular seasons and look to translate that into the Championships. From the men's side Stuart Terrill, Henry Haase and Jordan Bendura return from the top four Richmond performances from the 2022 season. These three, along with freshman standout Eric Scully, seek to better their conference finish for the 2023 year.

Last time out, the Richmond women held strong for the second place finish at the NCAA Pre-Nationals hosted by UVA. With a score of 139 in the Orange 6K, the only team they trailed on the day was Kansas State (116). The front runner for the squad, Elizabeth Stockman, claimed the third place finish with a new personal best of 20:53.2. Madison Trippett finished shortly behind Stockman at 20:58.2, notching another top-ten spot for the Spiders at sixth place. Brooke Reif (55th place - 22:05.6) and Laurel Kurtz (56th place - 22:07.0) were the next Spiders to cross the finish line as they completed the course back-to-back. Paige Joyce rounded out the top-five for the Richmond women, finishing at 64th with a mark of 22:11.7. The Richmond men finished sixth in the eleven team Orange 8K pool with a score of 165. Jordan Bendura led the group with the 14th place finish and a personal best of 24:43.0.
