
Wheeler Named CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week

Richmond, Va. — Redshirt senior Tristan Wheeler has been named the Coastal Athletic Association Football Defensive Player of the Week after recording a team-high 12 tackles (10 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery during Richmond's 44-13 homecoming win over Campbell.
Wheeler's strip sack was one of three fourth-quarter turnovers that turned into to 21 points as Wheeler and the Spiders defense held the Camels under 24 points for the first time this season.
With his fourth tackle of the day on Saturday, Wheeler moved into second place all time on the Spiders career tackles list. He currently leads all levels of the NCAA (FBS, FCS, DII, DIII) with 455.
Wheeler currently ranks second in the CAA with 89 tackles so far this season and is on pace for his fourth-consecutive full football season with 100 tackles or more.
