RICHMOND, Va. – Richmond's Spider Performance and Development, along with corporate partner CoStar Group, hosted the junior class of student-athletes for the Spider Athletics Etiquette and Networking Dinner at The Country Club of Virginia Monday evening.
RD Montgomery, SPD's Coordinator for Student-Athlete Success, teamed up with Becca Shelton of the University of Richmond's Career Services department to present tips and guidance on networking, interviewing and dinning etiquette as the group begins the process of searching for internships and full-time employment.
"I think this event is important as we help prepare our junior student-athletes to present themselves to employers in the most positive light while interviewing for internships and research opportunities," said Montgomery. "Also, it's important to bring to their attention that there is a network of Spider Alumni in a wide swath of industries that are willing to help them if they just reach out."
The student-athletes were also able to network with community members from a variety of industries including consulting, financial services, real estate, law, advertising, marketing, and branding, education, information technology, healthcare and government. Joining the student-athletes for dinner were Richmond Athletics coaches and staff, as well as alumni from Baseball, Swimming and Diving, Track and Field, Lacrosse, Soccer and Football.
The program was made possible by the generous contributions of Spider Athletics' supporters and mentors.
