Women's Track & Field Program Announces 2023-2024 Schedule
11/07/2023 | Women's Track & Field
Richmond, Va. – Director of Track & Field and Head Coach Lori Taylor has announced the schedule for the 2023-2024 indoor and outdoor seasons.
"We're looking forward to the track & field season and building upon the success of the past few years" Lori Taylor states. "This year we have several returning athletes who have the ability to qualify for the NCAA Championships and several new members to the team who, on paper, show great. As they prepare to compete, our staff recognizes how vitally important it is for their development and ultimate success to compete against the very best within the NCAA during the regular season. That exposure will prepare them for the championships and ultimately help us win. We have a few more weeks of the cross country season, however I'm looking forward to the indoor and outdoors seasons.
Richmond will be heading to eight indoor events. December will open up the season for the Spiders as they are set to compete at the Liberty Kickoff on December 1.
The Spiders will hold steady in Lexington, Va. In January as they plan to take on the VMI Team Challenge (January 20) and the VMI Invitational (January 26-27).
In February, the Spiders will compete at the Scarlet Knight Open (February 2-3) before heading to the Liberty Darius Dixon Invitational (February 9-10) and the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational (February 9-10). Richmond will round out its regular indoor season in Fairfax as they are making the short trip to the George Mason Invitational (February 16).
To kick off the postseason, the group will travel down to Virginia Beach, Va. for the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championships (February 23-24). Richmond will also compete in the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Boston, Mass. (March 2-3).
After a brief break, the Spiders will open the eight-event outdoor season hosting the Fred Hardy Invitational at Robins Stadium (March 22). Closing out the month of March, the group will take on the infamous Raleigh Relays (March 28-30).
April will see the Spiders send competitors to the Colonial Relays and Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational (April 5-6) before heading to Princeton, NJ and Los Angeles, CA for the Larry Ellis Invitational and the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 12-13). Following two split weekends, Richmond will make the short trip to Charlottesville for the Virginia Challenge hosted by UVA (April 19-20). Wrapping up April and the regular season, the squad will head to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete in the Penn Relays.
The 2024 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, Va. (May 4-5). Following the conference competition, the Spiders will travel to Boston, Mass. to compete in the ECAC Championships (May 11-12).
