Spiders Halted By Fifth-Seeded UAlbany in FCS Playoffs Second Round

The Great Danes silenced the Richmond run game, holding the Spiders to just 38 ground yards and jumped to a 27-0 lead before Nick DeGennaro scored his 11th touchdown of the season with one second left in the first half off an 11-yard pass from Camden Coleman.
With the touchdown, DeGennaro tied the program record for most receiving touchdowns in a season set by Brian Brown (2016) and Walker Gillette (1969). DeGennaro finished the day with a career-high 13 receptions as well as 120 yards for his third 100-plus yard receiving game this season.
Richmond's second and final score of the day came at the 6:31 mark of the fourth quarter with the score at 41-7 when Jerry Garcia Jr. caught a three-yard pass in the flat from Coleman and ran it in for his fifth touchdown of the season.
The Spiders were lead defensively by Tristan Wheeler who came up with 12 tackles and finishes his career as Richmond's second all-time tackler with 487.
After starting 2-3, the Spiders put together a seven game win streak to finish the season at 9-4 and advance to the second round of the playoffs for the second-straight year.
