Spiders Third in A-10 Preseason Men's Golf Poll

RICHMOND, Va. -- The Richmond Spiders Men's Golf team has been picked third in the Atlantic 10 men's golf preseason poll, the conference announced Wednesday. Richmond received 106Â points in the poll of the conference's 12 head coaches, trailing only VCU (134 points with five first-place votes) and Davidson (137 points with six first-place votes), the two-time defending conference champions.Â
This is the second straight season Richmond has been ranked third in the conference's preseason poll and third time in the last five seasons, along with 2019. UR was picked fourth in the A-10 preseason poll in both 2020 and 2021.Â
The Spiders finished tied for fourth at last season's Atlantic 10 Championship, their best result since winning the A-10 in 2017.Â
Richmond opened its spring season this week, tying for third at the Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. Next up for the team is a pair of tournaments during the University of Richmond's Spring Break, when UR competes in the Tiger Invitational in Auburn, Ala. (March 5-7) and the Sea Palms Invitational in St. Simons Island, Ga. (March 9-11).Â
The 2023 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship will be held April 28-30 at the Reunion Resort in Orlando, Fla. Â
