Saunders Named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week

Newport News, Va. — Jake Saunders powered the Spiders defense through a 9-2 scoring run and helped kill five St. John's extra-man opportunities Saturday to be named the Atlantic 10's Defensive Player of the Week.
Saunders led the Spider defense, tying a season and career-high five caused turnovers to go along with four ground balls. The graduate student led the man-down unit that ranks fifth in the country. This is his second Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
Up next, Saunders and the Spiders travel to Philadelphia to take on Saint Joseph's in their first-ever Atlantic 10 conference game. Face off is set for 1:00 p.m.
