Trippett Takes Gold, Keurentjes Wins Silver on Day 1 at ECAC Championships

FAIRFAX, Va. — The Richmond Spiders Women's Track & Field team earned a pair of medals on the first day of the ECAC Championships at George Mason University. Madison Trippett, who won the 1,500 meters at last weekend's Atlantic 10 Championship, raced to another win in the 1,500m, finishing in 4:23.90.
In the 800 meters, Kyra Keurentjes led three Spiders in the final, placing second with a time of 2:07.24, a personal best.
On Sunday, Elke van der Westhuizen will compete in the 200 meters and 400 meters. She finished fifth in the 400 meters in last weekend's A-10 Championships, with a personal-best time of 55.26 seconds.
Trippett, Keurentjes, Kate McAndrew, and Kayla O'Connell are scheduled to race in the 4 x 800 meters relay, an event the Spiders won at this meet in 2021 with both McAndrew and O'Connell in the lineup.
