Women's Cross Country Finishes Second at Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational

South Bend, IN. - The University of Richmond cross country program successfully competed in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational with a second place finish from the women and an eleventh place finish from the men.
Richmond took second as a team in the women's Gold 5K section with 123 points, trailing Akron (first place - 115) by the narrow margin eight points. Madison Trippett recorded a time of 17:28.7 to claim the sixth place finish, leading the group as the first Spider to cross the finish line. Elizabeth Stockman was the next Spider to finish at 17:52.5 for 16th as she continues her successful 2023 season with another top twenty performance. Brooke Reif claimed another top twenty spot for Richmond, completing the race at 17:55.7 for 19th place and a new personal best. Laurel Kurtz took 28th on the afternoon with a mark of 18:01.8. Paige Joyce rounded out the top five for the Richmond women, finishing at 54th with a time of 18:26.5.
The men finished eleventh as a team in the men's Gold 5 Mile section with 293 points. This race was highlighted by the performances of Henry Haase (23rd - 24:57.5), Eric Scully (41st - 25:14.5) and Jordan Bendura as they each claimed a new personal best and finished within the top fifty of the race.

Next up, the Spiders travel to Charlottesville, Va. to compete in the XC 23 Invitational hosted by UVA on October 14.
