University of Richmond Athletics

An Update From Director of Athletics John Hardt
11/22/2024 | General, Spider Athletic Fund
Dear Spiders:
Over the last few years, the national landscape surrounding intercollegiate athletics has been ever-changing. NCAA rules which now permit student-athletes to be compensated by third parties for the use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL) are among these changes.
In these rapidly evolving times, the support of our Spider community has become more important than ever. We are grateful to the many generous and loyal supporters who make charitable donations to the Spider Athletic Fund, providing critical resources that enable us to offer an unrivaled student-athlete experience and compete for championships.
In addition to your support through the Spider Athletic Fund, it's also possible to directly support Spider student-athletes through contributions to the Spiders' NIL Collective. The Spiders' Collective is an independent group of UR alumni, fans, and friends who have played a tremendous role in providing NIL opportunities to Spider student-athletes. Though not a gift to the university, NIL support has become an important factor in attracting championship-caliber student-athletes to UR and keeping some of our most accomplished Spiders here at Richmond.
Your support of Spiders Athletics is greatly appreciated — whether through a donation to the Spider Athletic Fund or a contribution to the Spiders' Collective. I hope you will continue your generous support to our Spider student-athletes throughout the 2024-2025 academic year!
Thank you for being a valued member of our Spider Family!
All the best,Â

John P. Hardt
