Men’s Tennis Announces 2025 Spring Slate

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team unveiled its 2025 spring schedule, featuring nine home matches at the Westhampton Tennis Complex and five key Atlantic 10 Conference matchups ahead of the A-10 Championship April 23-26 in Orlando, Fla. at the USTA National Campus.
The Spiders open their campaign with a road trip to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech on Jan. 17. They'll then continue their early-season travels with matches at Liberty (Jan. 18) and a weekend series at Army (Jan. 25-26) that includes contests against the Black Knights, Marist and Hofstra.
Richmond's February schedule begins with a home match against Hampton on Feb. 8, before heading across town to face conference rival VCU in their first A-10 clash on Feb. 9. The Spiders then compete in a weekend doubleheader at Navy, taking on Georgetown (Feb. 22) and Navy (Feb. 23).
The Spiders stay busy in March with a mix of home and away matches. Richmond visits James Madison on March 1 before hosting Mount Saint Mary's (March 2) and Bucknell (March 8). A spring break trip to The Citadel (March 11) rounds out their non-conference road games for the month. Richmond returns to A-10 play on March 22 as the team plays host Dayton, followed by a matchup against Duquesne on March 29.
The Spiders host Longwood on April 9 before heading to Fordham (April 11) for an A-10 weekend that includes a neutral-site contest against George Mason on April 12. The team travels to William & Mary on April 15 for the team's final non-conference match and concludes the season with home games against Saint Joseph's on April 18 and Davidson on April 19
Head Coach Houston Barrick brings back a core of young talent in Cole Brashear, Dylan Atkinson, Mark Taranov, Paxton Pritchard, Davis Wiley and Grant Cohen. Barrick adds freshmen Otto Sewell and Sam Rathmanner in addition to graduate transfer Zach Portnoy to the roster. In the fall season, doubles duo of Wiley/Brashear went 11-4 in doubles action, capturing the Conference Masters Qualifying title and advancing to the semifinal match of the Conference Masters. The duo also posted a huge doubles win over Samofalov/Almasi (VCU), 6-4, on Oct. 4.
