Boston, Mass. & Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Richmond track & field program had many successful finishes this weekend as the team split into separate groups, competing at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University and the Darius Dixon Invitational hosted by Liberty.
David Hemery Valentine Invitational
The Spiders excelled in the DMR at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston on Saturday, taking the 2nd place finish with a new program record of 11:10.35 (previously set by O'Connell, Helbling, Fazio, Stockman in 2022 at 11:21.53). Elizabeth Stockman, Virginia Beringer, Caroline Donohoe and Madison Trippett grouped together for this strong performance, etching their names in the Richmond record books.
Madison Trippett represented Richmond in the mile, taking the 46th place finish at 4:43.19. This mark takes over as Trippett's personal best, sits as the No. 3 all-time program record, and the No. 2 current time in the Atlantic 10. Elizabeth Stockman finished soon after in 51st place at 4:44.44, a personal best for the senior and the No. 4 all-time program record.
The 800m was yet again a successful event for Richmond. Caroline Donohoe led the group in 49th place at 2:09.36, a new personal best and the No. 7 all-time program record in the event. Kyra Keurentjes finished next in 65th place at 2:10.23, a season best for her. Keurentjes currently hold the No. 4 all-time program record (2:08.23- 2023). Morgan Lyons was the next Spider to cross the finish line, taking 74th place with a time of 2:10.81. This mark represents Lyon's new personal best and the No. 7 all-time program record. Virginia Beringer rounded out the event for Richmond in 161st place at 2:16.59, another new personal best.
Darius Dixon Invitational
Alicia Dawson has accepted all challenges thrown her way since joining the program in the Fall of 2023, leaving no disappointment through any competition. The 2x 2024 Atlantic 10 Field Performer of the Week led the Spiders to more success at the Darius Dixon Invitational hosted by Liberty. Taking 2nd place in the triple jump with a measurement of 12.57m, Dawson now holds the No. 1 all-time program record in the event which was previously set at 12.50m by Ashley Bell in 2003. Last week, Dawson overtook the all-time program record in the long jump at 6.12m at the Scarlet Knight Open. The graduate student now holds the all-time program records in both the long jump and the triple jump, accomplished in back-to-back meets.
Blaiklyn Clayton, Gabrielle Cummings and Nina Lavelle strongly represented the Spiders in the 200m, each claiming personal bests. In a pool of 73 competitors, Clayton finished in 5th place at 24.94.
