Spiders in Middle of Pack at Wexford Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, S.C., — The Richmond Spiders men's golf team is in ninth place following 36 holes at the Wexford Intercollegiate with a team score of 24-over par. The Spiders opened the event with an 11-over 299 in Round 1 Monday morning at Wexford Golf Club and followed it with a 13-over 301 in Round 2 Monday afternoon.

Junior Cole Ekert and fifth-year Lou Baker led UR with identical scores of 73-75/148 (+4) Monday and are tied for 22nd in the 90-man field with only Tuesday's final round remaining. Baker played the par threes in 2-under par Monday, tied for second best in the field, while Ekert played the par fours in even par, tied for fourth best in the event.

Sophomore Drew Carlin is at 8-over, tied for 45th, and junior Patrick Isztwan is one shot back in a tie for 50th at 9-over par. Isztwan made eagle threes on the 8th and 15th holes of his second round, and was the only player in the field with multiple eagles Monday.

Senior Garrett Clark is tied for 61st at 11-over par.

Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:15 AM.
