Spiders Third in A-10 Preseason Men's Golf Poll

RICHMOND, Va. -- The Richmond Spiders Men's Golf team has been picked third in the Atlantic 10 men's golf preseason poll, the conference announced Friday. Richmond received 120 points in the poll of the conference's 12 head coaches, trailing only three-time defending champion Davidson (131 points with three first-place votes) and VCU (138 points with eight first-place votes). Richmond received one first-place vote as did George Washington, which was picked fourth in the poll.

This is the third straight season Richmond has been ranked third in the conference's preseason poll and fourth time in the last six seasons, along with 2019. UR was picked fourth in the A-10 preseason poll in both 2020 and 2021.

The Spiders finished fifth at last season's Atlantic 10 Championship, their 18th top-five conference finish in 18 full seasons under coach Adam Decker.

Richmond has competed in a pair of events already this spring, placing third at the Atlantic 10-MAC Match Play in Dade City, Fla. in early February and finishing sixth among 18 teams at the Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. last week.

Next up for the team is the Tiger Invitational in Auburn, Ala. on March 11-12.

The 2024 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship will be held April 26-28 at Grand Cypress in Orlando, Fla.
