Richmond, Va. – University of Richmond men/s lacrosse fifth year attackman Dalton Young and redshirt junior goalie Zach Vigue have been named Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American Honorable Mentions, announced by the publication Friday.
One of the nation's most consistent scorers, Young carries a 50- game point streak into this Saturday's game at St. Bonaventure and has recorded a point in 52 of 58 career games. Young is one of only a handful of active players with a 50+ game point streak, having racked up 122 goals and 92 assists for 214 points over the duration of his 50-game streak. Young's goal streak is the fourth-longest nationally, having tallied 79 goals over the last 34-consecutive games. Young is Richmond's second-leading all-time scorer and became the fastest player in program history to record 100 points, pulling off the feat in just 30 games. Young currently leads the team with 23 goals and 22 assists through the first nine games of the season and was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List in January. With his five points from the Virginia game on Feb. 17, Young reached 203 career points and became just the third Spider ever to eclipse 200. Young's 231 career points rank second all-time for the Spiders and he currently ranks eighth in points and his 98 assists rank 10th among active career leaders.
Vigue has helped the Spiders reach fifth in the nation in scoring defense, holding teams to just 8.89 goals per game. Vigue ranks third in goals against average at 8.61 and is fifth in save percentage at .599 entering Saturday's game. Against Duke, Vigue helped the Spiders force the Blue Devils to match a season low in goals with 12. At the time, Duke was the nation's top scoring offense and averaged 18.29 goals per game and was held to 12 by Vigue and the rest of the Spiders defense. He has been named the Atlantic 10 defensive player of the week on three occasions so far this season.
