Spiders Climb National Rankings with Impressive Performances at the Raleigh Relays

Raleigh, N.C. – The University of Richmond track & field program closed its weekend at the historic Raleigh Relays with major success at all levels of competition. Multiple Spiders earned top conference marks and broke into the NCAA rankings in their respective events.
Alicia Dawson made her presence known at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility this weekend with a third place finish in the triple jump and a fourth place finish in the long jump. Her triple jump mark of 12.62m now stands as her personal best and the outdoor program record. This measurement currently ranks No. 1 in the Atlantic 10, No. 4 in the ECAC, No. 13 in the NCAA East Region and No. 25 in the NCAA nationally. Her long jump mark of 6.01m ranks No. 1 in the Atlantic 10, No. 7 in the ECAC and No. 28 in the NCAA East Region.
Elizabeth Stockman, the reigning Atlantic 10 Track Performer of the Week found massive success in the 1500m with the 17th place finish amongst fifty-nine other competitors. Her mark and personal best of 4:19.59 ranks No. 2 all-time for the Spiders behind 2011 All-American Amy Van Alstine's 4:19.36. Stockman's performance currently ranks No. 1 in the Atlantic 10, No. 5 in the ECAC, No. 14 in the NCAA East Region and No. 15 in the NCAA nationally.
Molly Wise jumped a 5.94m in the long jump, a new personal best as she claimed the 5th place finish. This measurement for Wise ranks No. 2 in the Atlantic 10 (behind teammate Alicia Dawson), No. 11 in the ECAC, and No. 25 in the NCAA East Region.
Elke Van der Westhuizen strongly represented Richmond in the 200m, taking the 13th place finish with a personal best of 24.23.
Nina Lavelle ran a personal best of 58.44 in the 400m, taking 55th place overall.
Morgan Lyons, Caroline Donohoe, Virginia Beringer and Dylan Miller each set new personal bests in the 800m:
Up next, a group of Spiders will make the short trip to Williamsburg, Va. for the Colonial Relays April 5-6 hosted by William & Mary.
