Men’s Tennis Announces 2024 Fall Slate

RICHMOND, Va. – Head Coach Houston Barrick and the University of Richmond men's tennis team unveiled the 2024 fall slate for the program, featuring the River City Tennis Open on Oct. 4-6. And the Atlantic 10 Fall Individual on Oct. 25-27 in Davidson, N.C.

"We are super excited kick off another fall season," Barrick said. "Our home event is always the highlight of our fall, and this will be our fifth year hosting the event. With both the men's and women's programs now participating in the open, it has made the event even more exciting. It's always a great feeling and honor to get to play on your home courts against some of the best players across the country."

The Spiders open the fall slate in Greensboro, N.C. for the UNCG Hidden Dual, slated for Sept. 13-15. Following the matches in Greensboro, the Spiders will host the River City Open at the Westhampton Tennis Complex on Oct. 4-6. To round out October, the Spiders will participate in the Elon Invitational and the Atlantic 10 Fall Individual, hosted by Davidson College on Oct. 25-27 over a split weekend. Richmond will then round out the fall slate with the Wake Forest Invite on Nov. 1-3 in Winston-Salem, N.C. followed by the Virginia Tech Dynamic Duo in Blacksburg, Va. Nov. 8-10.

Barrick welcomes back six veterans to the roster for the 2024-25 season including Dylan Atkinson, Cole Brashear, Grant Cohen, Paxton Pritchard, Mark Taranov and Davis Wiley. The Spiders welcome freshmen Otto Sewell and Sam Rathmanner to the roster in addition to Zach Portnoy, a graduate transfer from Denison.

"With the addition of three new players to the roster this year, this is one of our youngest teams in Spider tennis history," Barrick said. "Only one player will graduate after this year, so it's an amazing time to continue to strengthen our culture with a core group of players that will be together for many years to come. The fall schedule we have put together will both challenge and develop our team for the spring."
