Childress Added to Spider Golf Staff

RICHMOND, Va. — Michael Childress has joined the Spider Golf staff as an assistant coach, Richmond Athletics announced Friday. Childress graduated from UR in 2023 with degrees from the Robins School of Business and Jepson School of Leadership Studies following a decorated five-year playing career for the Spiders.
In his new role, Childress will assist with all team operations while providing practice instruction and on-course guidance at competitions. He has spent the past two years competing on various southeastern mini-tours, recording multiple top-20 finishes as a professional.
Childress appeared in 39 events for the Spiders from 2018-23, averaging 74.18 strokes over 109 competitive rounds, the most by a player in program history. He left Richmond with the seventh-lowest scoring average in program history. Childress was also a four-time selection to the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars Team, making him the first four-time honoree in program history.
