Spiders Wrap Up Day One of the Virginia Tech Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The University of Richmond's women's track and field team finished the first day of competition at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Friday.

The meet opened with senior Dylan Miller placing 9^th in the 1000m at 2:55.92. Senior Isabel Blaylock finished 15^th at 3:04.10.

In the 60m hurdles, senior Darya Mikusova finished at 9.35 in the prelims.

In the 60m prelims, sophomores Gabrielle Cummings finished at 7.71 and Blaiklyn Clayton finished at 8.01.

Senior Virginia Beringer led the Spiders in the 300m unseeded section. Beringer crossed the finish line at 40.32 to place 9^th. Sophomore Morgan Elliot finished 15^th at 41.08, junior Nina Lavelle finished right behind at 41.10 and freshman Cameron Whidbee finished 26^th with a personal best of 42.79.

In the 300m senior Elke Van der Westhuizen placed 19^th at 40.70 and Clayton finished 21^st at 41.54.

In the field events, sophomore Molly Wise placed fifth with a mark of 5.74m.

The Spiders continue Saturday at 11 a.m. for day two of the Virginia Tech Invitational.
