Molly Wise Wins the Long Jump at Penn State National Open

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The University of Richmond's women's track and field team competed in day one of the Penn State National Open this evening. Highlighting the day was junior Molly Wise, who won the long jump.

Opening the weekend with a victorious performance, Wise placed first in the long jump, competing against 19 other jumpers. Her best mark of the day was 6.05 meters in the pit.

Graduate student Darya Mikusova ran a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.96, placing fifth in the preliminaries.Â

In the mile, junior Phoebe Rubio hit a ECAC qualifying mark with a time of 4:58.16, placing 35th.Â

Senior Virginia Beringer ran a personal best indoor time in the 400-meter with a time of 56.01. She placed 10thin the finals ahead of Atlantic 10 foe, Duquesne. Two places behind Beringer, senior Elke Van der Westhuizen placed 12th with a time of 56.13.Â

In the 800-meter, senior Dylan Miller ran personal best indoor time at 2:13.24 placing 25th.  Freshman Molly Flanagan also ran a personal best, finishing 26th with a time of 2:13.27.Â

Running unattached, Eric Scully finished 26th with a personal best time of 4:12.71 in the mile. Scully's time qualifies for the IC4A Championship coming up in March.Â

The Spiders are back in action tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. at the Penn State National Open.Â
