Spiders Wrap ITA Atlantic Regional as Wiley Reaches Quarters

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships, paced by a quarterfinal singles run from Davis Wiley. Wiley battled through three tough victories to reach the final eight before bowing out to Liberty's Ben Sparks.
Wiley opened with a Round of 64 victory over Old Dominion's Thomas Nelson 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, then rallied past Georgetown's Zamaan Moledina 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the Round of 32. He followed with a Round of 16 win over Virginia's Douglas Yaffa 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-3 before dropping a tight quarterfinal to Sparks 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3.
Cole Brashear pushed Sparks to three sets in the Round of 64 before falling 6-7 (3), 7-6 (7), 6-0. In qualifying, Paxton Pritchard was edged by Longwood's Alejandro Uribe 7-5, 6-4 and later dropped a consolation match to Georgetown's Joshua Lamm-Bocharov 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles, Brashear and Wiley fell to Virginia Tech's Drew Fishback and Victor Kimpel 8-3, while Pritchard and Sam Rathmanner were topped 8-2 by VCU's Alfred Almasi and Nicolo Consonni in the Round of 32.
