Rizo-Patron Tabbed A-10 Men's Golf Rookie of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. — Freshman Lucas Rizo-Patron has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Rizo-Patron, who hails from Rye, N.Y., was honored from his performance at last week's Bash in the Boro in Statesboro, Ga., where he shot 4-under par to tie for 11th place.

After opening with a 1-over 73, Rizo-Patron fired back to back rounds of 69 (-3) and 70 (-2) to move up the individual leaderboard and secure his second top-20 finish of the season. He was the top-scoring Spider as Richmond finished the 12-team event in fourth place at 4-under par (860).

This is Rizo-Patron's first weekly Atlantic 10 honor, and it marks the fifth straight year a Spider has won an Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Rookie of the Week Award, a streak that dates back to the 2021-22 season.

Rizo-Patron and the Spiders will wrap up their fall season at this week's Monterrey Collegiate Classic on Friday and Saturday in Monterrey, Mexico.
