Hoilette Earns Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week Honors
11/10/2025 | Football
Richmond, Va.— University of Richmond senior defensive end Donovan Hoilette has been named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Spiders' defense to a 31–24 road victory over Georgetown last Saturday.
Hoilette came up big with 3.5 quarterback sacks as part of Richmond's season-high eight sacks, its best performance since Nov. 2, 2024, when the team came up with 7.0 against Towson. Hoilette's 3.5 sacks are the most by any Spider since Jeremiah Grant recorded 3.0 in the same game.
Hoilette was also responsible for a strip fumble on his final sack of the day, as well as a pass breakup and quarterback hurry to help the Spiders rally from behind and earn their 600th program win, as well as their second consecutive Patriot League victory.
Hoilette and the rest of the Spiders are home this Saturday for Senior Day — fans' last chance to see the team at home in 2025. Game time against Lafayette is set for 2:00 p.m. at Robins Stadium.
