Touchdown Club of Richmond Honors Catanzarite as Humanitarian Award Recipient
12/02/2025 | Football
Richmond, Va.— The Touchdown Club of Richmond has announced University of Richmond long snapper Brian Catanzarite as the recipient of the club's Wells Fargo Advisors Humanitarian Award for the 2025 football season.
The club presents this award annually to a student-athlete from a collegiate football program within the Commonwealth of Virginia who has exceeded expectations in service to their school and community. The recipient must also demonstrate a meaningful and positive influence both on campus and within the broader community.
Catanzarite was a preseason nominee for the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which recognizes student-athletes for their commitment to community service and leadership beyond the gridiron.
Nicknamed, ironically, "Big Cat," he was a dedicated volunteer and advocate for the Richmond Animal League, assisting with animal care, including feeding, walking, cleaning and socializing dogs and cats. He partnered with the organization and Richmond athletics to produce the 2025 football schedule release video, featuring adoptable pets and raising awareness for animal rescue.
The New Jersey has participated in numerous community service initiatives as well as campus events such as the team's annual bone marrow drive, supporting lifesaving donor registration and health awareness efforts. With an active social media presence, he uses his platform to highlight service, sportsmanship and local engagement.
Catanzarite will be honored during the televised broadcast of the Dudley and Lanier Awards presentation. The program is set to air on WTVR-TV in Richmond, the local CBS affiliate, on Thursday, Dec. 11, beginning at 7:45 p.m. The broadcast will be hosted by Lane Casadonte, the longtime sports director at the station.
This is the eighth year of the annual presentation, which is sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors in Richmond. Past winners include: 2024 — Jaylin Lane, Virginia Tech; 2023 — Kymon Pope, Virginia State; 2022 — Chayce Chalmers, Virginia; 2021 — Brock Hoffman, Virginia Tech; 2020–21 — Terrell Jana, Virginia; 2019 — Collin O'Donnell, Bluefield University; and 2018 — Lester Coleman, Virginia, and Grant Westbrook, James Madison.
The Touchdown Club of Richmond is a 501(c)(3) sports-social organization based in Richmond. The club promotes the best interests of football and sports in general under the guidance of elected officers, with the primary purpose of recognizing worthy athletes for their accomplishments.
