Football Announces Spring Practice Dates
02/13/2025 | Football
Richmond, Va. – University of Richmond Football Head Coach Russ Huesman announced a 15-date spring football practice schedule Thursday.
Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays with intermittent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday dates scattered throughout. Spring practices will culminate with the annual Spring Game on April 5 from 1:00-3:00 at Robins Stadium.
Dates and times are subject to change, so fans should stay tuned to RichmondSpiders.com and social media outlets for any possible revisions. All practices will be open to the public and fans are encouraged to enjoy practices from the west concourse stands of the stadium (College Road side).
The Spiders are coming off a historic season in 2024, their final year in the Coastal Athletic Association. Huesman led Richmond to the FCS Playoffs for a third consecutive year, with the Spiders winning back-to-back conference championships for just the second time in program history. The team finished the regular season with 10 wins, the best record since 2009, and completed an undefeated 8-0 conference season—just the second such accomplishment in program history and the first since a 6-0 record in the Southern Conference in 1968. The 2024 team became just the seventh in CAA history to finish conference play unbeaten. Under Huesman's guidance, defensive end Jeremiah Grant finished third in voting for the prestigious Buck Buchanan Award, given annually to the top defensive player in FCS. Grant, along with center Tom Elia, safeties Jabril Hayes and Matthew Traynor, were named All-Americans, while the Spiders boasted 12 All-CAA selections, including Traynor as Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Richmond opens the season when it travels to new Patriot League conference opponent Lehigh on Aug. 30. Richmond's home opener is scheduled for Sept. 20, when the Spiders host in-state rival VMI, one of five opportunities to see Richmond at Robins Stadium in 2025.
Game times will be announced at a later date. Fans should stay tuned for updates on 2024 single-game and season ticket deposits/renewals on social media by following @Spiders_FB on X and @SpiderFootball on Instagram.
