Richmond Opens Day One of Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship with Two Podium Finishes

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The University of Richmond's women's track and field team opened the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships with a gold and silver medal finish and nine Spiders advancing to the finals.

Capturing gold, junior Molly Wise won the long jump with a mark of 6.09 meters.

In the distance medley relay final, Richmond captured silver with a time of 11:38.63, achieving a new DI ranking of No. 61 for this event. Running the relay were Miller (3:36.92), Elliott (55.90), Lyons (2:12.96), and junior Brooke Reif (4:52.82).

In the 60-meter hurdles, graduate student Darya Mikusova finished with a personal best time of 8.83 and placed seventh.

Senior Elke Van der Westhuizen finished first in the 400 meters with a time of 55.80.

Richmond had two athletes advance to the finals in the 500 meters. Senior Virginia Beringer finished second in the preliminaries with a time of 1:13.45. Sophomore Morgan Elliott finished fourth with a personal best time of 1:15.80.

In the 800 meters, three Spiders advanced to the finals. Freshman Molly Flanagan finished second with a time of 2:14.03, senior Morgan Lyons finished third with a time of 2:15.95, and senior Allison Colflesh finished with a personal best time of 2:15.60 to place fifth.

Senior Dylan Miller finished fifth with a time of 2:53.52 in the 1,000 meters.

In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Gabrielle Cummings finished with a time of 24.67 to place fifth.
In the 5,000-meter final, junior Mollie Fenn and senior Laurel Kurtz collectively scored five points. Fenn finished sixth with a personal best time of 17:05.79, and Kurtz finished fifth with a personal best time of 17:08.02.
