Richmond Sweeps The Citadel for Fourth Straight Victory

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance Tuesday in Charleston, S.C., shutting out The Citadel 7-0 at the Earle Tennis Center. The Spiders improved to 7-5 on the season and notched their fourth-straight victory, while the Bulldogs fell to 3-16.
How it Happened
Richmond took control early, securing the doubles point with two decisive victories. On court one, Spider duo Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley edged Tucker Hendrix and Noah Van Dyke (CIT) 6-4. Meanwhile, Sam Rathmanner and Paxton Pritchard claimed a 6-3 win on court two. Dylan Atkinson and Otto Sewell dropped a 6-3 decision on court three against Stroumpis/Osipov (CIT). .
In singles play, Richmond won all six matches in straight sets. On court one, Wiley posted a solid 6-3, 6-2 win over Van Dyke (CIT). Pritchard continued the trend with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory over Ted Bagwell (CIT) on court two while Atkinson followed suit with a 6-4, 6-3 win against Bradey Minnich (CIT) on court three.
Sewell clinched another point for Richmond with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court four, while Rathmanner and Zach Portnoy closed out the sweep with commanding performances on courts five and six, winning 6-2, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-1, respectively.
