Spiders Stay in Third at Sea Palms Invitational

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. — The Richmond Spiders combined for a 3-over 287 in Round 2 Friday, losing ground on the leaders but staying in third place on the leaderboard at the Sea Palms Invitational. Of the 20 teams in the field, the Spiders (3-under through 36 holes) trail only Villanova (-6) and UNCG (-21).
Senior Cole Ekert was the only Spider to break par Friday, shooting a 2-under 69 to move 13 spots up the individual leaderboard into a tie for 14th place at 2-under par. Fellow senior Patrick Isztwan remains the top Spider on the individual leaderboard. He's tied for sixth at 4-under par after a 1-over 72 Friday.
Sophomore Jack LaPiana also shot a 72 Friday and is now tied for 28th at 1-over par. Richmond's final score was provided by sophomore Quin Polin, who shot a 3-over 74. He's tied for 70th at 6-over par.
Freshman Carson Baez shot 75 Friday and is tied for 43rd at 4-over par.
Richmond will be seeking it's eighth top-five finish in eight events this season during Saturday's final round at Sea Palms Resort.
