Spider Athletics Honors 126 Scholar Student-Athletes Monday Morning

Richmond, Va. — The University of Richmond Department of Athletics hosted its annual Scholar-Athlete Breakfast on Monday morning, honoring 126 Spider student-athletes who achieved a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher over two consecutive semesters. These scholar-athletes, representing all 16 University of Richmond teams, collectively earned an impressive GPA of 3.79. The 126 honorees make up nearly a third of the entire Spider student-athlete body.
The women's swimming and diving team earned the highest GPA among women's teams, continuing its tradition of academic excellence and claiming the award for the fourth consecutive year.
The men's cross country team was recognized with the highest GPA among men's teams, reflecting their commitment to both athletic and academic success for the second year in a row.
Special academic awards were also presented to outstanding student-athletes from various schools. Laura Davis from the women's swimming and diving team was named the Robins School of Business Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Carstyn Klosterman, also from women's swimming and diving, received the School of Arts and Sciences Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. Liam Weaver, a member of the men's basketball team, earned the Jepson School of Leadership Studies Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
Isabel Blaylock of women's cross country was named the overall Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
