
Richmond Track and Field Has Successful Opening Day at ECAC/IC4A Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Richmond women's track team and members of the Richmond men's cross country team had a successful opening day at the ECAC/IC4A Championships. Junior Molly Wise won the long jump, and 14 Spiders advanced to the finals.

Wise won the long jump with a mark of 5.95 meters.

In the finals of the 5k, senior Laurel Kurtz placed second with a personal best time of 16:45.74.

In the men's 5k finals, junior Henry Hasse placed second with a personal best time of 14:25.67.

In the preliminaries, junior Cooper Groat advanced to the finals of the 1k after placing third with a time of 2:27.21.

Sophomore Gabrielle Cummings advanced to the finals in the 60 meters with a time of 7.72, finishing ninth. She also advanced to the 200-meter finals with a personal best time of 24.59, finishing sixth.

Sophomore Blaiklyn Clayton also advanced to the 200-meter finals, finishing 10th with a time of 24.80, tying for sixth on Richmond's all-time indoor list.

In the 400 meters, senior Elke Van der Westhuizen finished fifth with a time of 55.45, and Virginia Beringer finished sixth with a personal best time of 55.47 to advance to the finals.

Sophomore Morgan Elliott finished first in the 500 meters to advance to the finals with a personal best time of 1:15.45.
In the 800-meter run, two Spiders advanced to the finals. Freshman Molly Flanagan finished first with a personal best time of 2:10.83, and senior Morgan Lyons finished second with a time of 2:11.80.

In the 1k, senior Dylan Miller finished first with a personal best time of 2:50.34. Sophomore Ashley Bolesh also advanced to the finals with a personal best time of 2:54.29.

In the mile, three Spiders advanced to the finals. Junior Brooke Reif finished fifth with a personal best time of 4:52.45, putting her 10th on Richmond's all-time indoor list. Freshman Hallie Muniz placed sixth with a personal best time of 4:54.73, and junior Phoebe Rubio placed seventh with a personal best time of 4:57.28.
