Barbulescu Wins A10 Conference Masters

DAVIDSON, NC – The University of Richmond's Sofia Barbulescu captured the women's tennis singles title at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Conference Masters, hosted by Davidson this weekend.
With the tournament victory, Barbulescu qualifies for the NCAA Conference Masters Tournament on November 5-8 at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.
After a round of 16 bye, Barbulescu defeated VCU's Mariam Ibrahim Mohamed Metwally 6-4, 6-3. She then captured a semifinal 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) win over Davidson's Charlotte Calderwood.
In the finals, Barbulescu came back after dropping a 4-6 first set to take the next two sets 6-4, 6-4 to capture the singles title over Rhode Island's Iben Mol.
Lucy Webber also competed in the A10 Conference Masters, falling to Mol in the round of 16, 6-4, 2-6, 1-6. In the consolation bracket, she bounced back to defeat Saint Joseph's Elena Fleming 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles action, the Spider duo fell 8-4 to Duquesne's Dasha Chichkina and Mila Badics.
