RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond freshman Carter Bransford has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Golf Rookie of the Month for October, the conference announced Tuesday.
Bransford recorded a 74.40 scoring average across five stroke-play rounds during the month, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Spider Invitational. She opened the event with consecutive rounds of 1-under 71 and finished at 2-over par (218), helping Richmond earn a share of the team title with Florida Atlantic. The second-place finish was the best by a Spider freshman since Hannah Lydic finished runner-up at the 2022 Nittany Lion Invitational.
During Richmond's fall-break trip to Ireland, Bransford defeated Sophie Quinones 6&5 in match play as the Spiders earned a 5-2 victory over Holy Cross at Doonbeg Golf Club.
Bransford concluded the fall by tying for 30th at the Keswick Cup at 10-over par (154) following rounds of 76 and 78. She helped Richmond place fourth in the nine-team field.
Bransford and the Spiders will return to competition Jan. 25-26 at the Sea Best Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
