Spiders Take Control Early in Bounce-Back Win Over Georgetown

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's tennis team returned to the win column Saturday morning with a 6-1 victory over Georgetown at the Westhampton Tennis Complex. With the result, the Spiders even their spring record at 7-7, while the Hoyas fall to 3-12. The win also marks Richmond's second-straight victory over Georgetown.
How It Happened
Richmond opened the morning by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Cole Brashear and Davis Wiley set the tone with a 6-4 victory over Jonah Hill and Arthur O'Sullivan at the top spot, improving the duo to 10-3 on the spring. After Georgetown answered with a 6-3 win on court two, Charlie Burdell and Otto Sewell sealed the doubles point with a dominant 6-1 result on court three, moving to 5-3 as a pair.
The Spiders carried that momentum into singles play, winning five of six matches to clinch the team victory. Wiley delivered a strong performance on court one, cruising to a 6-0, 6-3 win to improve to 10-3 in dual singles. Sewell followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory on court four, while Dylan Atkinson added a straight-set 6-2, 6-4 win on court five in his spring debut.
Rathmanner contributed a 6-1, 6-4 victory on court six to pick up his second dual win of the season. Burdell battled through a three-set match on court two, rallying for a 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 victory to move to 9-4 on the spring. Georgetown's lone point came on court three, where Joshua Lamm-Bocharov defeated Paxton Pritchard in three sets.
